The Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has urged the new National Assembly members to make the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill a priority.
The oil workers urged the National Assembly to make the recommendations of (OGIC) the driving force of the PIB and ensure that concerns of oil workers are taken into account in passing the bill
The Conference-in-Session equally maintains that the government must provide the necessary succor and palliative measures to assuage the impact of import-driven deregulation within the set time-frame,” the communique
According to the workers, the development was necessary in order to dispel the present state of uncertainty by both investors and workers in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
They disclosed this at the Association’s 3rd Triennial Delegates Conference held recently at the Nicon Luxury Hotel Abuja.
A communique jointly signed by its the President and General Secretary, Comrade Babatunde Ogun and Bayo Olowoshile said PENGASSAN stands by the deregulation policy of the oil and gas sector that would swiftly serve as catalyst for needed local refining capacity within a specified time-frame.
