Nigerian President Mr Good-luck-unfolds new foreign policy

The Nigerian President chief Mr Good-luck Jonathan recently pronounced the most review of the country's foreign policy towards strengthening economic relations with the International community in the Nigreia.
He explained that the strengthening of Nigeria's economic interest through the protection of the country's businessmen and women wherever they exist in Africa and the rest of the world is a top priority.
The move which is coming on the heels of widespread complaints and dissatisfaction by Nigerians both at home and abroad with the country's current foreign policy, that lays emphasis on grants and aid to its neighbours without commensurate economic benefit in return; and the urgent need to review it, is one of plans initiated by the President to deliberately grow the economy.
Speaking against the background of the recent visit of the President to Uganda, Presidential Spokesman, Ima Niboro, insisted that Dr Jonathan as Nigeria's President is under obligation to ensure the well-being of Nigerian economic interests wherever they exist across the world.
Niboro said that while the Nigeria leader is not unaware of the growing global economic competitiveness among countries of the world, sustaining and increasing the business enterprises of Nigeria and Nigerians across the continent of Africa and beyond remains a driving force in the ongoing foreign policy reforms of the President-elect.
The Presidential Adviser argued that whenever the President travels to any African country or outside the continent for that matter, it is not just the invitation that matters but Nigeria's underlying economic interest in that country.
The Presidency maintained that while the President will not asked Nigerians doing genuine businesses abroad to relocate home, as no country does that in the 21st century, he is under an oath to ensure the well-being, protection and safety of Nigerians and their businesses in any country where they are, at all times".
Niboro however, added that Nigeria's economic interest in the International Community, essentially in Africa, will be strictly guided by the promotion of democratic principles through good governance, while her new foreign policy will be centered around how best to grow the country's economy, saying that after 50 years, the country needs to take stock, and fashion out a new way forward in its role in Africa and the world.
President Jonathan had on Monday while receiving letters of credence from five new ambassadors at different ceremonies declared that his Administration would pay special attention to the strengthening of economic relations with the international community, as a matter of national priority.
The new Ambassadors were Mr. Nyahuma Mentuhotep Obika of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Alvaro Castillo Aguilar of Spain, Mr. Ali Abdo Suleiman of Ethiopia, Mr. Alain Aime Nyamitwe of Burundi and Mr. Issa Ibrahim of Chad.
