THE EEU IMO STATE UNIVERSITY TO RESUME ON THE 7TH OF DECEMBER
Prof. Ndubuizu explained that his Committee considered it also necessary to recommend to the State government the need for certain categories of professional students at the University to pay a different levels of school fees.The former VC who charged the university authority to ensure the school reopens by Dec, 7, 2010 for normal academic programs also sounded it loud and clear that the university required N4bn to function effectively.
The Committee according to the chairman which suggested to the State government what they called a resource enhancement fees of N20,000 (twenty thousand naira) from every students of the university called for full cooperation of stakeholders to ensure that Imo State actualize the desired standard of Education in the State.
Earlier MR Governor Ikedi Ohakim who received the report from the committee, declared that his government is determined to study the report and see possible means of actualizing the objectives.
Governor Ohakim who apologized to the parents and students of the university appealed to ASUU to assist the State government by returning back to class room next week.
The Governor said that his administration decided to pay the striking lecturers some months salaries that they did not work for as a way of showing their commitment to enhance Education in the state.
On his part, the ASUU Chairman, Mr. Vitalis Nwulu said that there is need for every stakeholder to make some sacrifies which he stressed could go a long way in finding lasting solution to the problem.
