Ambrose Alli University crisis blamed on ineffective communication
LACK of adequate communication between the different stakeholders of the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, Edo State, has been identified as being responsible for the recent crisis that engulfed the University.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. C. Agbebaku disclosed this in her address delivered at the 40th Inaugural Lecture of the University.
She acknowledged that the communication gap between staff, students and the university’s host community was the major cause of the closure of the institution recently by the state government.
“We humbly accept with apology one area in which the university did not do well in recent times. It is communication with the university’s students, staff and members of its environment. This gave rise to dangerous rumours and avoidable controversies.
“There have been controversies for instance on the extent of funding of AAU by the Adams Oshiomhole administration of the state. The records available to the university indicates that the government raised the monthly subvention to the university to N150million and from, N150m to N210 and recently to N215m,” he added
